Who Needs This Licence?

You must apply for a Security Licence if you intend to work in any of the following roles:

• Investigator
• Bodyguard
• Crowd Controller
• Security Guard
• Private Security Trainer
• Security Equipment Installer
• Security Adviser

You can apply for one or more of these activities. Each has its own sub-categories.

How to Apply

1. Download and complete the application form for your desired licence category.
2. Have your fingerprints taken (if required — check your form instructions).
3. Submit your completed application to the Licensing & Regulation Division.
4. Wait for your notification letter to:
   • Arrange payment of fees
   • Book your photo appointment at VicRoads (if required)

Once your application is approved, your plastic licence card will be mailed to you.
